C2 & C2T - a new answer for Presbyopic patients
David Thomas Contact Lenses have introduced a new soft multifocal and toric multifocal lens design. The annual replacement progressive C2 and C2T designs have been developed using a new CAD design application to utilise Free Form manufacturing capability. The design produces lens surfaces that are defined by a much greater number of points which allows the simultaneous vision to be improved for both distance and near acuity. The central near zone is large enough to give good contrast. The intermediate provides good filed of depth and the rapid decrease of asphericity in the periphery provides a stable distance vision.
Sales & Marketing Director, Graham Avery commented, 'In our opinion the C2 and C2T design actually deliver a better acceptable level of vision at all levels than other designs. Studies completed in France confirm that these designs are a real step forward in satisfying the growing presbyopic market segment.'
The design comes on top of a range of best selling contact lens designs for presbyopic patients. Both Reclaim HD and Essential MF are market leading GP designs from the US market and DTCL now provide what were the Astrocon GP multifocals previously supplied by Cibavision. The presbyopic market is now one of the fastest growing sectors of the contact lens market and by the year 2020 it is estimated that 38.6% of the UK population will be presbyopic.
